The Strange Villain You Should Cosplay RIGHT NOW

M.O.D.O.K.

With the release of the new Marvel series, it seems like the right time to try one of the strangest cosplays I’ve seen. A character with a rich history, and a… memorable design.

The character in question: the evil M.O.D.O.K.

A genius brain in a hovering chair with psionic powers, he’s one of those comic book villains you just assume is fake until you find a record of him. He’s got a wild visual design, with odd proportions and metallic aspects adding to the strangeness. He also has had a lot of stylistic interpretations over the years, with some artists focusing on how menacing he is, and others making him look almost sage-like.

And this makes him a wonderful choice for anyone who likes a cosplay challenge. My short survey of the ways people have tried has led me to tiny head-only costumes and a few elaborate structures more like how Dalek cosplays work. Patton Oswalt (the voice actor for the new show) even wore a huge M.O.D.O.K. costume for motion capture purposes.

So, to turn some heads at your next cosplay, the choice is obvious. M.O.D.O.K. will conquer the world, after all, so you may as well show your respect to our new megalomaniacal ruler.
